Site description Located in the south-east of Vojvodina, south Banat, the IBA comprises an elongated elliptical tract of sand, spreading from the Danube north towards Vladimirovac and Banatski Karlovac. It covers grazing-pasture, steppes habitats, woodland, scrub, conifer plantations, vineyards and agricultural land.

 

Birds An important site for breeding species of forest and scrub. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (wintering), Aquila heliaca (breeding) and Crex crex (breeding).Conservation issues The main threats are a forestation of pasture and steppes habitats with pine Pinus and false acacia Robinia, overgrowth by scrub, and intensive hunting. Work to remove Robinia and Crataegus from grasslands has begun, and watering holes have been constructed. Plans exist to propose the area as a Biosphere Reserve. A management plan exists for the site.Birds are waiting for tourists in Deliblatska Pescara. Deliblatska Pescara is the one of the most unique eco-systems in the entire world. There are presently more than 220 sorts of birds registered there. Birds of prey, songbirds and water birds are all highly appreciated.
The Deliblatska Pescara is also a hunting ground where hunters from whole world have come.

 

Deliblatska pescara is the only sandy terrain in Europe, originated from the Panonian Sea withdrawal. Due to its marvelous forest and unspoiled surroundings, it was proclaimed to be the Special Nature Reserve. Within the borders there are 2 strict and 16 genetically reserves and 6 natural monuments.
In last ten years it is an exclusive hunting area for hunters coming from Germany, France, Belgium and Italy.The area is located in the north-eastern Serbia, 50 km east of Belgrade, 40 km from Romanian border. The towns of Bela Crkva and Kovin are nearby. Forestry has been traditional on Deliblatska pescara almost 200 years. At the beginning the main goal was to stop the land erosion - the moving sands. In time many surfaces were afforested.
